Nestle licenses MultiBene concept and launches MultiBene milk powder in Singapore
Nestle, the world's biggest food and beverage company, has licensed MultiBene concept. Nestle's MultiBene milk powder has been launched in Singapore. MultiBene is a unique combination of cholesterol-lowering plant sterols with beneficial mineral nutrients. Worldwide MultiBene patents protect concomitant enrichment of food items with plant sterols and any of the mineral nutrients calcium, potassium or magnesium. Hence, plant sterol-enriched food items can be enriched with calcium, potassium or magnesium only under license of the MultiBene patents. Moreover, calcium- or other mineral nutrient-enriched foods can be enriched with plant sterols only under license of the MultiBene patents. MultiBene is effective in lowering elevated blood pressure and serum cholesterol. The efficacy of MultiBene foods has been demonstrated in human clinical studies and animal studies.
